Should you only write when you’re inspired? Only write when you’re feeling positive? Should you only sing when you feel good? Only put hand to key when you are happy? Should you only paint when you want to? Dip brush into water when you feel a joy bursting out of you?
The same way you don’t just go to work when you feel like it, you work (creatively) when you don’t feel it. In a way, it helps push through. Push through any darkness. Push through any insecurities. Push through the fear that you’re not good enough. Overcome that fear that says you are only worthwhile when you have everything “together.”
It’s such a cliche but it’s true, isn’t it – “Life is what happens when we’re busy making other plans.” Or this famous saying: We plan, God laughs.
How often do you plan something only to find it didn’t work out? How often do things work out exactly as you thought they would? Yet, but how often do they work out better – much much better than you thought? Or imagined.
“Without a vision, the people perish.”
It’s true, we need a vision.
Visions for our life, visions for our goals, what we want to achieve, or what we see. Plans too but make sure, when you are making plans that you have a vision because it’s Vision that will drive you to continue even when the plans fail.
Do you ever have days – maybe right now – when you just don’t feel wonderful? You might have felt great yesterday, and will have a brilliant day tomorrow but RIGHT now you just don’t feel good.
Start writing again. Start painting again. Start blogging again. Start reading again. Start opening the sticky-noted Lonely Planet again. Start emailling again. Start forgiving again. Start praying again. Start dreaming again.
Let your plans be wrapped in vision – BIG visions which drive you to the ends of the earth if necessary – and your vision be guided by plans. Use reality as the transport mode to get you there. Be hopeful – you are loved! Loved by people and loved by God but that’s another story.
